The New York Mets are going for a sweep of this three-game series at Citizens Bank Park tonight, but I think the home team will break out with a big performance in this one. Note that the Phillies are 7-3 in their last 10 games after losing the first two games of a series.
Vince Velasquez (0-1, 9.00 ERA) takes the ball for the Phillies. He lasted only four innings of a 7-6 loss against Washington in his season debut, but struck out 10 while allowing four runs on five hits (two homers). He went 1-1 with a 1.76 ERA and 20 strikeouts in three starts against the Mets last year. New York hands the ball to Zack Wheeler (0-1, 11.25 ERA). He missed the 2015 and 2016 season due to injuries and was tagged with five runs on six hits in four innings of a loss to the Marlins on Friday.
The Phillies held a team meeting Tuesday, and they need a win here to calm things down in the clubhouse.
