The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Miami Marlins will clash for the tie-breaker of a three-game series Sunday afternoon, and I think both teams will keep the scorekeepers at Marlins Park busy today.
Pirates’ right-hander Chris Archer (3-6, 5.73 ERA) owns a 2.42 ERA in four career starts versus Miami, but he’s having a poor year here in 2019, particularly on the road where he’s been lit up for 21 runs over 20 1/3 innings of work. Archer was tagged with seven runs on eight hits (five homers) in six innings of a 7-5 loss at Atlanta last time out and has allowed four runs or more in five of his last seven starts.
The Marlins turn to Sandy Alcantara (3-6, 3.67 ERA) who will face Pittsburgh for the first time. Alcantara gave up four runs on four hits and four walks in five innings against the Cardinals his last start.
Over is 35-15-1 in Pirates last 51 overall. Over is 5-1 in Pirates last 6 road games. Over is 9-4-1 in Marlins last 14 overall.
